Yang Yang

(b.1998, Jingdezhen)

Yang is a PhD candidate at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. As a researcher, artist, and craftsperson, her practice examines the tensions between art, craft, and industrial production, and between individual autonomy and collective rationality within systems of mass production and consumption. Through ethnographic methodology, she develops a new labour aesthetic centred on human agency and embodied perspectives on labour in ceramic production.

Through moving image, installation and ceramics, she is dedicated to observing and recording the individuals in the social torrent. As a digital participant, her practice conducts her observations and concerns about social issues in misreading domestic labour, the failure of capitalism, physical commons, and collectivism, but in a positive way.
